Hi. I'm from Poland and I bought a used DWR933 B1 signed with the logos of Plus and Cyfrowy Polsat operators.
I put a Plus sim card in it and I got a "no service" message. So I did a reset, but it didn't change anything.
I noticed IMEI 000000000000000 and software version 01.03.EU.
Under the battery there is information about IMEI 355xxxxxxxxx996 and version 01.07.CPG.
I inserted a SIM card from another operator (Play) and it was detected correctly in 3G. However, I couldn't test it thoroughly because it doesn't have an Internet package.
I went back to the Plus sim card and again "No services". I changed all the settings. This operator usually had a problem with APN - the default APN "internet" only works in 3G and you need to change it to APN "plus" for 4G to work.
But not this time. Without reading the forums, I tried to update it to 01.13.EU manually over the air. WebGUI rejected the update saying the file was invalid. Next was version 01.03.EU and IMEI (0).
I turned on WPS, repeated the update, the file was probably not rejected, but the process took a long time and I fell asleep. In the morning, by some miracle, Plus started working. Version continues 01.03.EU and IMEI (0). I configured it, used it for a while and it was ok. Satisfied, I took it apart and packed it as a gift.
After reassembling it with a new Plus card (working, active), it didn't work again ("No Service").
I reset it, tried to do more or less the same things as before, but nothing worked.
I started checking the internet and ended up here.
I installed the new Firefox browser on a Windows 10 computer and tried to upload 01.04.EU and 01.12.EU via cable and they were also rejected.
I tried to upload version 01.02.EU via cable, but I received FAIL and information that a backup cannot be made.
Generally in WIndows network settings it was detected to be Plus network.
Windows Update detected some Qualcom HS-USB 9025 update, which I installed, and from then on I cannot log in to WebGUI at all with the router connected via cable. Still "no internet". I tried to uninstall all drivers for this router, but this resulted in the computer not detecting the router.
I put the update files on my phone and tried to update wirelessly.
I tried all versions and by reinstalling 01.03.EU the router started working properly. The connection worked and the IMEI number appeared. Unfortunately, different than the one on the sticker marked 356xxxxxxxxx250.
I did a reset and it still worked fine.
I checked Remote Update and got information that it is the latest available version.
I moved on to doing manual over-the-air updates one by one, managed to install them, but didn't produce good results.
01.04.EU "No services" and no IMEI.
01.05.EU and the same.
01.06.EU "No services" and IMEI (0).
01.08.EU, 01.11.EU, 01.12.EUb02, 01.13.EU the same.
After installing each version, I did a reset every time.
During the update, a working SIM Plus card was still inserted, because WebGUI did not work without a SIM card, with SIM cards from other operators it did not work, but without the Internet package, and I do not have a working card from another operator with the Internet. Tomorrow I will try to buy another sim card with internet.
I returned to 01.03.EU and everything works again. I forgot to check IMEI.
There was still a problem with connecting the USB cable to the computer. Connecting the cable did not provide internet on the computer and I could not connect to WebGUI via cable.
The 01.02.EU installation was successfully launched, the backup was successful and the entire installation was successful. PASS.
The router is working properly. New IMEI 356xxxxxxxxx850.
I've had enough of this for now.
Tomorrow I will try to switch to the newer version using 01.06.EU. I will also check whether "No services" will appear again with the new Plus card.
It turns out that on this device Plus works in 4G without changing the APN from "internet" to "plus". This is the first time I've seen this. This product is clearly different from the others. Strange product...
Are there any devices at a similar price that don't cause so many problems, with similar functions, good battery and operation via an application?
